Standing up to take the fight to the enemy!
By now the world must realize that we cannot afford to sit and wait for terrorists to attack us. We must hit them first.
As we welcome the chief of defence staff (CDS) and Footprint hero General Christopher Musa back from speaking to troops of Operation Hadin Kai at the Maimalari cantonment, Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, on Tuesday 10 Ocober 2023, we consider the timely wisdom of his words.
General Musa asked Nigerian army troops not to wait for Boko Haram terrorists to attack first before taking the fight to them.
In a resolute message that shows his determination to fight hard against the scourge of terrorism he told the assembled troops: "Don't just come and sleep in the theatre, make sure you look for Boko Haram and kill. Anybody who comes to the theatre and finishes without killing one Boko Haram is not complete.
"They should not be looking for us, we should be looking for them", he added. "So you must make sure before you go, look for them, that's the only way we can finish them completely."
"Do not go and sit down until they attack and we repel, there is nothing like repel, go and find and kill them."
Footprint welcomes back General Musa
General Musa also said President Bola Tinubu recognises the sacrifices and commitment of the troops in the fight against insurgency: "The president said he is happy with us and wishes us all the very best. He also reminds us that it is not yet over but that we are moving on the right track."
His message ended on a positive promise: "If we continue the way we are going, very soon Boko Haram will come to an end."
Footprint Encylopedia says:
